Under the
corporate strategy title 'Making it Happen' the Environment
Agency has set out on an ambitious programme of change
for their organisation. The directors in the Agency recognised
that in order to deliver this initiative they needed a
leadership group of senior managers in key positions, who
share a commitment to the strategy, and are in a position
to implement the plan in significant parts of the organisation.
To support this important initiative 100 senior managers
in key leadership roles attended a major business school
programme. To help measure and reinforce the leadership
culture, Compass Performance Management provided consultancy
support, in the form of a small number of focus workshops,
to help develop the 'Leading the Organisation' competency
model to be used as the basis of a questionnaire for 360
degree feedback. A number of key 'Leadership Attributes'
were identified in the model as those required in senior
management for successful implementation of the MIH strategy.
Our online Compass360 bureau service, fully customised
to reflect the objectives of this initiative, was used
to provide feedback to individuals, and a group report
for the organisation. This process has provided the Environment
Agency with valuable information on the strengths and development
needs for this senior management population to be successful
in their role as change agents.
