Eversheds
LLP were looking to improve the way they reviewed the performance
of their top 800 partners and non partners and receiving
objective 360 feedback was seen as a fundamental part of
this process.
The firm had outgrown its manual paper based system which
had been used in various parts of the business previously.
A fully customised Compass360 self-managed website was
set up for this purpose, designed to dovetail into the
firm's Performance and Development Review process and linked
to their competency framework. As with all the Compass360
self-managed sites Eversheds' regional HR team were given
access to the site via a coded administrative link. This
allowed them to monitor progress, deal with any user problems
and ensure that the subjects were receiving their feedback
reports. Compass360 staff provided additional administrative
and technical support to the HR team.
Individuals were able to register on the site and initiate
their own 360 degree feedback surveys by sending out a
questionnaire, via a web link, to their chosen respondents.
They were able to monitor the progress of their survey
via their own online monitor page. When they had a sufficient
number of respondents they were able to generate a detailed
feedback report which was then sent directly to their 'Lead
Reviewer'.
All Lead Reviewers were trained to facilitate individual
feedback sessions with their reviewees. The Lead Reviewers
made sure that their reviewees received a copy of the 360
report just before their Performance and Development Review
meeting. This approach ensured that individuals fully understood
the content of the feedback and had the opportunity during
the meeting to consider those development areas they needed
to work on.
Group feedback reports were also generated to enable Eversheds
to look at trends, training needs and a general overview
of the skills profile that existed across the firm.
"Placing the onus on the individual
to initiate their own 360 report has brought about a significant
change to the way people view the Performance & Development
Review process. Individuals are now much more involved
in the process and are therefore taking responsibility
for their own performance and development - it is no longer
something that is 'done to them' by others.
Compass360 have been a pleasure
to work with. We have been quite demanding as a client
but they have really gone out of their way to accommodate
our needs"

"For the first time we will be able to capture
data electronically against each of our eleven competency areas. This
data will provide a snapshot of the skills profile of our lawyers and
managers, which can be analysed across practice groups and regions.
This will enable us to prioritise our development initiatives."
